Ghana National Gas Company(GNGC) has donated GH₵60,000 to the Child Health Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and GH₵40,000 to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital respectively.

The donation, which was made on Thursday, October 18, 2018 is as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility plan to give back to society.

The Chief Executive Officer of GNGC, Dr. Ben K.D Asante, presenting the cheque to the Child Health Centre explained that the department was chosen due to the high cost of treatment for cancer cases among children which the hospital grapples with daily.

The money was used to pay for the monthly operations and management consultancy services rendered by Sinopec to Ghana Gas.

The Chief Executive Officer of GNGC, Dr. Ben K.D Asante, presenting the cheque to the Child Health Centre explained that the department was chosen due to the high cost of treatment for cancer cases among children which the hospital grapples with daily.

The CEO further urged corporate entities to come to the aid of the department, since the government alone cannot address the situation.

Dr. Ebenezer Badoe, Head of the Child Health Centre expressed gratitude to GNGC for the kind gesture and assured that the money will go a long way to assist patients, emphasizing that children are the future and must be given the necessary health support to grow and help build the country.

Making the presentation at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, the CEO of GNGC, Dr. Ben K.D Asante said that reports in the media which exposed the dilapidated structures of the health facility moved the company to support the mental hospital.

“I was touched by scenes I saw here when watching TV. So, as part of our social responsibility we felt we should donate something small to help the mental health facility. By this donation, we are telling you how much we appreciate all the sacrifices you are making for the hospital and patients,” he said.

Dr. Pinaman Appau, Director of the hospital thanked GNGC for the support, promising to use the money to refurbish the old wards in the hospital.

She said the hospital needs such kind gestures from corporate bodies to keep the facility running effectively and efficiently.
