Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) has organized a consultative meeting with selected stakeholders to discuss the company’s Eastern Enclave Development Project (EEDP) at the Holiday Inn hotel in Accra.
The meeting held at Holiday Inn’s Volta Conference room on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 was to inform and solicit the support of relevant stakeholders under whose jurisdiction the nature and scope of the intended project falls.
Senior Manager at GNGC’s Technical Services department, Ing. Maxwell Kwame Kally briefed participants on what the EEDP entails, emphasizing that GNGC over the last ten years had expanded its natural gas pipeline network across the country's Western enclave.
He stressed that with the increase in natural gas production in Ghana’s oil fields coupled with LNG infrastructure, this has resulted in substantial gas supply to boost industrial development.
“It is for this reason that GNGC has decided to expand its natural gas pipeline network beyond the western region to other demand centers for the business growth of business and ensure service reliability across the country”, Ing. Kally explained.
He also urged all stakeholders and partners to support GNGC in its quest to contribute towards the country’s industrialization agenda.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, Ambassador Mike Ocquaye Jnr in his submissions pledged support for GNGC’s intended projects, adding that gas being relatively cheaper and a clean source of energy is most suitable for industries and companies within the free zones enclave.
The CEO reiterated the readiness of his outfit to approve the proposed plans by GNGC, adding that GFZA endorses the drive towards industrial growth. He encouraged other stakeholders to facilitate a fast and smooth process to enable a successful project implementation.
Together with other participants, Ambassador Ocquaye Jnr admonished GNGC to initiate measures that will see to the successful implementation of all activities under the EEDP.
