The Operations directorate (OD) is one of the most essential parts of the Company. OD is made up of various departments that play vital roles in the processing and transportation of hydrocarbon products.

The current gas infrastructure comprises the following main elements:

  • Offshore gas export pipeline, which consists of a 12 inch diameter 58km long subsea pipeline, transporting dense-phase gas from the Jubilee FPSO to the Gas Plant (GPP).

  • Gas Processing Plant (GPP) at Atuabo in the Western Region and has a design capacity of 150 MMScfd and normal design capacity of 120 MMScfd.

  • Onshore gas pipeline, which consists of a 20 inch diameter 110 km pipeline, transporting sales gas from the GPP to an existing Thermal Power Plant at Aboadze.

  • LPG truck-loading gantry located approximately 2.5km from the GPP near Anokye.
The Operations Directorate (OD) has primary technical responsibility in ensuring that Ghana Gas activities meet the international best industry standards and in-country regulatory requirements.

The Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) department under OD ensures that all activities carried out at the various Ghana Gas sites meet the highest standards and the most stringent safety regulations, in order to secure the safety of personnel, the communities in and around the gas facilities, as well as Ghana Gas valuable assets.

The Quality Assurance and Quality Controls (QA/QC) department provides support for the construction activities and the gas facilities’ operation and maintenance. The QA/QC department develops and implements procedures, which are required for construction, operation and maintenance activities. These procedures are in accordance with the international standards (ISO/TS 29001 and ISO 14000 guidelines). Regular audits are performed to verify compliance with these procedures.

The Engineering and Maintenance department plays a very pivotal role in the goals and aspirations of Ghana Gas. The department is responsible for all project engineering related activities undertaken by the Company, and the maintenance engineering activities required for the gas facilities.

The Project Controls department provides project management support from project initiation phase to completion phase. They ensure that effective project implementation methodologies are adhered to.

Construction Management Department is responsible for the construction management and execution of all projects either directly related to the gas infrastructure project or community development projects that the Company carries out.

The OD works closely with other departments such as Commercial, Procurement, Legal, Corporate Affairs, Government Relations, Communication, Corporate Social Responsibility and Community Relations in its day-to-day operation of the gas facilities.
