GHANA GAS MEDIA SOIREE

Jan 20, 2022

Ghana, Accra

Ghana National Gas Company held its first media soiree of the year on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the GNGC Head Office in Accra.

The theme of the media soiree was "Ghana Gas' 10-Year Journey So Far and Beyond."

The Board Chairman, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, praised the CEO and management for indigenizing the company's human resource and instilling a strong belief in local Ghanaian talent and workforce.

"Dr. Ben Asante and management's decision to replace expatriate labor with local engineers is a shining example that I urge all state-governed agencies to emulate."

Dr. Ben K.D Asante, Chief Executive Officer, discussed some of the company's accomplishments over the years.

"Three years after construction, Ghanaian engineers took over from Chinese expatriates, a feat that other African countries took many years to achieve. The Ghana Gas - Karpowership project has also added 450 megawatts to the National Grid, saving the country millions of dollars. Other expansion projects have significantly increased our capacity."

Dr. Ben K. D Asante stated that Ghana Gas employees have extensive knowledge and understanding of the industry, which has contributed to the company's success thus far.

Dr. Ben K. D Asante highlighted some of the projects that Ghana Gas intends to undertake in the future.

"We would advance our technical capabilities in the coming years by expanding our processing capacity to handle the incremental upscale flow from the Jubilee and TEN fields." We are extending our pipelines from the facilities all the way to the Ivory Coast border in order to supply our neighbors with gas for power generation. Ghana Gas will also explore non-power uses for gas, with a focus on fertilizer production."

For his part, Ernest Owusu-Bempah Bonsu, Head of Corporate Communications, stated that the GNGC's priority is to strengthen relationships with the media in order to communicate effectively with Ghanaians.

The Head of Communication stressed that Ghana Gas remains committed to supporting all its project-affected communities through a comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility policy that covers all 16 regions of the country.
